Planning for Facebook Pages

facebook-company

Starting up any social media channel can seem a little daunting when you are presented with numerous forms to fill in and are presented pretty much an empty page at the end of it all. It is good to have a plan in place before embarking on social media for your business.

A bad social media page is more damaging than not having one at all.

Facebook is the leading social media platform and is well worth the attention of both B2B and B2C brands. Your audience is very likely to be on Facebook and are ready to be targetted! The following points are a simple guide of what to consider when getting started with a Facebook company page…

Develop a value proposition.

Why exactly should people be interested in your company? Nobody likes clutter and spammy posts in their newsfeed so you need to catch the attention of users and offer them something in return for liking your page.

Ensure posts are engaging and are of value to the user whilst keeping it inline with your company’s values and tone of voice. Funny posts, informative posts, special offers and latest products are all perfect ways to grab the attention.

Understand your audience.

Facebook pages allow you to set your preferred audience for your company page. Ensure you understand who you are marketing to and get your pages in front of the right people to increase the chance of success!

Depending on your business, you can target the relevant demographic. Is their location, their age, their gender, their marital status, their employment industry, their interests… etc. relevant to you? Facebook captures all this information and more from users and it’s there, ready at your disposal!

Create a content strategy.

Once you’ve figured out your value proposition and your audience, now you need to work out what you are going to say to them. Think about your unique selling points and tone of voice and then look to create content to catch the attention of users when they are scrolling through the mass of information on their newsfeed.

No overkill on posts though! Posting on Facebook is better received for quality rather than quantity. There isn’t a magic number but one or two posts a day would be a great starting point.

... and off you go!

So this is the starting point to hopefully help get the sparks of imagination and creative thoughts flowing!
